HAIR CARE

Washing Your Hair - You've been doing it for years, but have you been kind to your hair?

  • Brush Your Hair Before it's Wet - This way your hair rinses better and the tangles do not become worse.

  • Warm or Cold Water? - Best to wash in warm to open all the hair cuticles to easily remove all dirt and oil. Use cold water as a final rinse to bring out shine and close up the cuticles.

  • Where to Place Shampoo? - After wetting your hair (using your fingertips gently) you should apply the shampoo to your scalp and not your hair. Placing shampoo on the ends first causes it to be more brittle and causes more split ends.

  • To Repeat Or Not To Repeat? - Always good to repeat. The first washing takes care of the dirt and oil buildup. The second wash will allow the shampoo to 'treat' the hair, so leave on for a few minutes before you rinse.

  • Conditioning - Unlike shampoo, start off on the ends of the hair and work towards the scalp. Placing conditioner directly on the scalp causes the scalp to produce too much oil.

Hair Types: Combination - How to care for your hair?

It's hard when your scalp is oily yet the ends of your hair are dry. Here are some tips to help:

  • Wash With Luke Warm Water - Hot water damages hair. Always wash in luke warm water to prevent damage.
  • What Kind Of Shampoo? - Normal is your best bet. A shampoo for oily hair will dry out your ends. Also, less is more. Using a quarter size amount will be the perfect amount, and remember to place it on your scalp first and not the ends so you don't damage the ends of your hair.
  • Where to Condition? - Opposite to shampooing, conditioner should be placed on the ends and work towards the scalp. Placing the conditioner on the scalp causes the moisturizing agents to have the scalp produce too much oil.
  • Deep Conditioning Treatments, Friend or Foe? - Recommended to use once a week. Nothing like a little TLC for the hair :)

NAIL CARE

Secret To Beautiful Nails

Since we are always using our hands for basic chores, nail care is always on the mind. Below are some tips to help you keep your nails looking their best.

  • Drink Water - Make sure your body is hydrated. Water helps cleanse the system of impurities and is necessary for good health.
  • Vitamin Time - Vitamin A, Vitamin C, calcium, folic acid, protein, Vitamin B12, and zinc are really your friends. Increase these to help keep your nails healthy and strong.
  • Polish - Touching up your manicure once a day will help prevent chips and cracks. Using speed dry polish will make this an easy task.
  • No Rough Housing Please - Try not to use your nails as tools. There are other great gadgets to get the job done without damaging your nails.
  • Cocktail Time? - Check your favorite lotions for alcohol. Alcohol will cause nails to become brittle and more prone to chipping. If it does contain alcohol use it sparingly.
  • Protect Your Hands - While out in the garden or in washing the dishes in the kitchen, gloves can be your best defense to protecting your nails. Allows you an easy way to keep harsh chemicals away from your tender hands and nails.
